The Coaster Theatre Kidz program will present three performances of “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.” at the Coaster Theatre, 108 N. Hemlock St., Cannon Beach.

“Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.” follows an enigmatic factory owner who stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five candy bars. The winners earn a free tour of the factory, plus a lifetime supply of candy. 

Four of the winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable lad named Charlie Bucket, a poor paper boy who takes the tour with his amiable grandfather. 

The play features songs from the 1971 Gene Wilder movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” plus new pieces. “The Candy Man” was a hit for Sammy Davis, Jr.
