Storyteller to tell Irish tales at KALA

Will Hornyak will present "Tales from the Hedgerow" 7 p.m. Saturday at KALA.

ASTORIA — At 7 p.m. Saturday, storyteller Will Hornyak will weave together tales, songs and poems in the spirit of a late-night Irish hedgerow gathering.

The event at KALA is titled “Tales from the Hedgerow” and will focus on the era of the Irish penal codes in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Hornyak has performed in schools, libraries and theaters. His storytelling covers a wide range of oral traditions, from Irish myths and Russian fairytales to Mexican fables and Oregon tall tales.
