MANZANITA — Hoffman Center for the Arts is seeking submissions for a pairing of writing and visual arts, with entries open Monday.

Word & Image, a project that pairs writers and artists to create original works in response to one another, is asking for no more than three pieces of submitted writing or artwork.

Twelve writers and artists will be selected from the entries by a group of past participants. At an event in June, those selected will be randomly paired and have the chance to meet their partners and receive digital copies of each other’s submitted work.

Through the summer, pairs will create work in response to pieces submitted by their partner, a poem inspired by a watercolor, for example.

The project will culminate in an Oct. 5 event at the Hoffman Center, featuring the work of paired writers and artists. Works will be displayed in the gallery as well as published in a book.
