ASTORIA — Johanna Ogden, a historian, activist and author of the book “Punjabi Rebels of the Columbia River: The Global Fight for Indian Independence and Citizenship,” will give a 7 p.m. Thursday talk at Fort George Brewery.

In the book, Ogden traces the history of Ghadar, a radical Indian independence movement that had ties to Astoria. She also outlines the U.S. Supreme Court citizenship case of Bhagat Singh Thind.

Ogden will talk on material from the book, which was released in June from Oregon State University Press, and about her research into the lesser-known history of South Asians along the Columbia corridor.

The free presentation is part of the Thursday Night Talk series, a collaboration between Fort George Brewery and the Clatsop County Historical Society. For more details, call 503-325-2203 or visit www.astoriamuseums.org.
