ASTORIA — Two shorts by local filmmaker Ron Walker will be shown at the Astoria Library at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Walker’s first film, “An Afternoon with Liisa Penner,” is focused on and narrated by Penner, a Clatsop County Historical Society archivist whose name appears on the society’s archives center. The film was made from several months of interviews.

The second film featured is “Astoria in the 1950s,” a portrait of a bygone era in the city told through archival footage and street interviews.

Walker began making films in the 1980s as the resident music composer for the Film Loft in Portland. Also a musician, he composes the soundtracks for his films.

Cupcakes will be served at 6:30 p.m. before the showings begin. For more information, visit www.astorialibrary.org.
