Pier 39 endures as a connection to Astoria’s canning and seafood industries.

ASTORIA — Love on Pier 39, a makers market and Valentine’s Day celebration, will offer food and gifts from more than 40 vendors from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Hear music at the event beginning at 2 p.m. with Barbara Anne, followed by DJ Schmeazy at 4 p.m.

The event is part of the monthlong Astoria Love Locks campaign. Love lock kits are available through Feb. 29 from Mess Hall Market, Menagerie on Pier 39, Coffee Girl and the Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce.

On a lock, write a name, initials or a message and fasten it to the pier. Also, take a picture with a wooden Astoria heart and look for pink neon hearts hung in local business windows.
