CANNON BEACH — At a recent award ceremony at the Coaster Theatre Playhouse, the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition awarded $11,500 to local arts organizations.

Sheila Martin, chair of the Arts Council of Clatsop County, spoke at the event alongside Charlene Larsen as emcee.

Awards of $2,000 were given to the Cascadia Chamber Opera, for funding a production of “Driving While Black”; El Centro Northwest, for folk dancing costumes; and the North Coast Symphonic Band for new chairs at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts.

The Arts Council of Clatsop County was awarded $1,300 to support a theater workshop for local high school students.

Awards between $1,000 and $1,200 were also given to the Cannon Beach Arts Association, the Seaside Museum & Historical Society, the North Oregon Coast Symphony and the North Coast Chorale. For more information, go to www.clatsopculturalcoalition.org.
