North Oregon Coast Symphony to present ‘playful inspirations’

- The North Oregon Coast Symphony is beginning a new season with two concerts, titled “Grand Openings.”
The North Oregon Coast Symphony will continue its ongoing season with two concerts, one at St. Catherine Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. Saturday, and another at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The group, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson, will feature Serge Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf.” The classic tale will be set to music and narrated by stage and television actor Liz Cole.
Other highlights will include a Vivaldi guitar piece performed by Jim Achilles, solo piano pieces performed by Diane Amos and orchestral works by Mendelssohn, Rossini and Beethoven.
Admission for both concerts will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Children are encouraged to attend, and cookies and refreshments will be available at intermission. For more information, visit www.northoregoncoastsymphony.org.
