Fiber arts featured at Long Beach festival

- Diane Seifert, a retired school teacher, has traveled as far as Iceland to gather inspiration for fiber art projects.
LONG BEACH, Wash. — The Columbia Pacific Fiber Arts Association will host a festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Long Beach Elementary School.

The event is coordinated by Colleen Smith, Shelly McSweyn and Diane Seifert, all knitters and crochet enthusiasts.
It will feature a silent auction and classes on multiple topics including the principles of Fair Isle knitting, spinning art yarn, how to make a woven Santa and techniques for repairing dropped knitted stitches.
Vendors will offer hand-dyed yarns, fleeces from a variety of animals, antique spinning wheels, weaving kits and felting supplies, as well as completed handmade items.
