SEASIDE — Local author Rod Wells will sign copies of his debut novel, “The Lost Ladies,” at Beach Books from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Wells, a graduate of the FBI National Academy who retired after more than 30 years with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department in Modesto, California, writes from experience about a fictional investigation following the disappearance of a group of women.
