SEASIDE – A poetry reading commemorating Oregon’s late Poet Laureate William Stafford will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in the Discovery Room of the Seaside Public Library, 60 N. Roosevelt Drive.

The event, hosted by the Friends of William Stafford and the Friends of the Seaside Library, will begin with several local poets reading a poem by Stafford and one of their own poems written in the spirit of Stafford’s work. Invited readers include Sandra Foushee, Claudia Harper, Anne Splane Philips and Donna Wright, with introductions by Susan Firghil Park.

After the poets read, members of the audience will be invited to read one of their favorite Stafford poems. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Seaside Library. For information, call Susan Park at (503) 738-4340 or e-mail parkfam@freedomnw.com
