Reservations are now being taken for the Astor Street Opry Company’s second season of dinner theater, a full-length presentation of “Halfway Home” sponsored by the Astoria Seafoods Laboratory and New Northwest Broadcasters.

Directed by Ken Chapman, “Halfway Home” is a delightful full-length drama/comedy written by Diane Bank and published with special permission by Samuel French Plays. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays through March 6, with two Sunday Dessert Matinees Feb. 22 and March 7 at the Finnish Meat Market, 279 W. Marine Drive.

A fine dining experience will be offered Fridays and Saturdays, including Valentine’s Day, by Fulio’s Restaurant. Cost for the complete evening is $25 and includes dinner, dessert, coffee and the show. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for dinner and the show starts at 8 p.m. At the Sunday Dessert Matinees, doors open at 1 p.m. and the show begins at 2 p.m. Tickets for the matinee, including desserts, are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors. Tickets for the show only are available for $10 for any performance. Space is limited; reservations are required and must be placed by noon of the performance date.

The amusing two-act stage show opens during one of the hottest days in New York City, where a local tour bus driver in a desperate attempt to escape her life decides to hijack a taxi cab (along with its driver) and drive to the Midwest to her estranged and eccentric family. The entertaining story takes audiences on her journey, where they will meet an array of odd yet familiar characters recognizable from their own encounters with relations and neighbors. “Halfway Home” features some of the area’s finest local actors, including Dorene Schmitz, LaMar Blackner, Sandie Mathews, Nancy Claterbos, Pam Stoutenburg, Ann Tierney, Lynn Hout and Neva Barker.
