Cannon Beach exhibit honors North Coast couple

CANNON BEACH – An exhibit of photographs and poems by a North Coast couple is the new focus at the Cannon Beach History Center, 1387 S. Spruce St.
“Beside Our Sandy Shore” is a Cannon Beach Historical Society Exhibit celebrating the lives and work of Frank and Irta Woodfield. Frank Woodfield, a well-regarded photographer, is best remembered for his Clatsop County postcards. Irta Woodfield published a book of poetry in 1955, “Beside Our Sandy Shore.” They spent most of their lives in Astoria, but retired to Cannon Beach in 1942.
The grand opening is 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Admission is free to all on opening day. Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 17 and free for CBHS members and children younger than 6. For information, call (503) 436-9301.
