Astoria’s annual Easter Egg Hunt starts at noon Saturday, March 26 at Tapiola Park for children 11 and younger. Fred Meyer, New NW Broadcasters, the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Astoria’s Parks and Community Services Department sponsor the event.
The activity begins at 11 a.m. with music and entertainment for the children. There will be a petting zoo hosted by the 4-H Club, music, fire trucks and more. All of the activities and the hunt are free; hot dogs and Pepsi will be available by donation.
The egg hunt begins at noon with a blast of the siren from the Astoria Fire Department’s fire engine. Children should bring their own basket or bag. Astoria and Warrenton area merchants have donated small prizes for the egg hunt.
Special areas of the park will be roped off for five divisions: ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and special needs.
Tongue Point Job Corps students will color more than 5,000 eggs and area organizations such as Astoria Fire and Parks and Community Services Departments and 4-H Clubs have volunteered to make the event memorable for the children. The Easter Bunny and Fred Bear will be the main celebrities at the event.
Parking will be available around Tapiola Park and Astoria High School. For further information, contact Laura Parker at the Astoria Parks and Community Services Department, (503) 325-7525.
