Warrenton Trails Association kicks off summer activities

WARRENTON – The Warrenton Trails Association, in partnership with the National Park Service Rivers and Trails Program, is sponsoring monthly trail activities in the Warrenton area over the summer. The summer series will kick off on National Trails Day, June 4, with a trail construction project and continue with guided trail walks in July and August.

Volunteer for WTA’s Community Trail Crew and help construct trail on behalf of the Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks. Volunteers will work side by side with National Park Service staff on a section of the Fort to Sea Trail, a trail replicating Lewis and Clark’s route from Fort Clatsop to the Pacific Ocean. Ten people are needed for the volunteer crew, capable of a full day on the trail, including packing in gear and using hand tools. If you would like to join WTA’s crew, please register with the Warrenton Trails Association at (503) 861-2001. Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Serendipity Caffe, 137 Main St., to carpool. Wear suitable clothing and bring boots, gloves, lunch and water.
