Free fishing day and kids fishing derby at Fort Stevens State Park

HAMMOND – Fort Stevens State Park, along with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Rainland Flycasters, will be hosting free fishing day activities at Coffenbury Lake from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6. The lake is located off Peter Iredale Road, just west of the park’s main visitor center and campground.

A kids fishing derby will be held with prizes and a biggest fish competition, open to children ages 1 through 14. A limited number of poles, tackle and bait will be provided for participants.

The ODFW display tank will be on hand to view live trout and steelhead and there will be fly casting demonstrations put on by the Rainland Flycasters.

Free Fishing Day and Oregon State Parks Day is June 6. No license is required to fish, and there is free camping and day use in Oregon state parks this day.
