Hear music from the Cheslea Jazz Trio at KALA on Friday.

ASTORIA — Chelsea LaFey, John Orr and Clarence Robinson, who together make up the Chelsea Jazz Trio, will play a set of classic and contemporary jazz standards at 7:30 p.m. Friday at KALA.

LaFey, a vocalist, is an active performer on the North Coast with her 7-piece band the Saltshakers, who perform swing tunes from the 1940s and 1950s.

Orr, a guitarist and songwriter, is a regular at local art galleries and other solo shows in rock, pop and folk genres.

Robinson, a bass player, arrived on the coast from Southern California. Originally from New York City, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music and California Institute of the Arts and has played with many big names in jazz music.
