ASTORIA — Blind Pilot, an indie rock band with roots in Astoria, will play two sold-out shows at the Liberty Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
In August, the group released its first album in eight years, “In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain,” which emerged after a long writer’s block for frontman Israel Nebeker.
Blind Pilot formed in 2007 after Nebeker and co-founding member Ryan Dobrowski toured the West Coast via bicycle, carrying their instruments on custom-made trailers.
Four albums later, and joined by Kati Claborn, Dave Jorgensen, Ian Krist and Luke Ydstie, the band has sold out shows in the U.S. and Europe, played at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and made appearances on “Ellen” and “The Late Show With David Letterman.”
They are now touring as a quartet, having played over the summer across much of the West. New tour dates announced for 2025 include a Portland show on Feb. 25.
In Astoria, the band’s two sold-out shows will feature guests David James Duncan, reading from his latest work, “American Prayers,” on Friday and an opener from Bart Budwig on Saturday.
Tickets went on sale in June, at $40 for general admission and $129 for a “Faces of Light” VIP experience, including a private acoustic performance, group photo and signed merchandise.
