ASTORIA — “Astoria Horrorfest: Shiver on the River” will once again take audiences to the edge of their seats at the Columbian Theater.

More than 50 short films are on the lineup for the horror festival, which is returning for a second year on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18.

Last year’s festival, organized by Josh Staley, John Gentner and Nate Crowchild, received more than 1,700 submissions representing over 100 countries. Film showings were joined by musical guests, local food carts and vendors.

This year, titles include “Vines,” “The Starlight Motel” and “Closed Circuit.” Awards will be given for Best in Festival and Audience Choice.

Two-day festival passes are available online for $50, limited to ages 17 and above. Seating is first come, first serve. For updates, follow @astoriahorrorfest on Instagram.
