Writers Read Celebration theme is ‘Rising Tide’

CANNON BEACH — “A rising tide lifts all boats,” writes the Cannon Beach Library of its theme for the 2025 Writers Read Celebration, open for submissions through Jan. 31.

Written work across formats will be considered, including essays, stories, poems and haiku. Between 10 and 12 works will be selected by a panel, which authors will then be invited to read during the event on March 7, at the library or via Zoom.

The theme challenges writers to choose a direction. A “rising tide” could be an incoming flood or tsunami, or perhaps the anticipation of change in a person’s life.

Authors are limited to three entries, with a maximum of 600 words each. Submissions should be in Word format, with a separate cover letter containing the writer’s name, email address and phone number.

The entry document should leave out the author’s name and contact information so that authors remain anonymous to the reading panel. Entries should be emailed to info@cannonbeachlibrary.org.
