SEASIDE — Volunteers will have the chance to sip hot cocoa and plant western red cedar trees in an event hosted by the North Coast Land Conservancy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Circle Creek Habitat Reserve.
“Cedar Planting and Cocoa on the Winter Solstice” is planned as the first in a monthly series of stewardship events after the completion of the Land Conservancy’s new Circle Creek Conservation Center.
The aim is to improve riparian and forested habitats at the reserve. Gloves and tools will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own. Planting shovels will be used to get young trees in the ground.
To stay comfortable for hours in the field, people are encouraged to bring boots, rain gear, water and snacks. This is a free event. To register, visit www.nclctrust.org.
