ASTORIA — The annual Sankta Lucia Festival of Lights, celebrating St. Lucia’s Day, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Astoria High School Auditorium.

The festival, which is sponsored by the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival Association, will include caroling by Astoria’s Nordic Youth Choir, performances by the Astoria Nordic Viking Scandia Dancers, a Christmas tree lighting, dancing and festive music by the Polka Dots.

Riley Phillips, runner-up for Miss Scandinavia 2024, will wear a crown of candles as this year’s Lucia Bride, leading attendants and Star Boys in a traditional lighted procession.

Refreshments for the event will be provided by the Friends of Suomi Hall. Admission is $1 per person or $5 per family. Proceeds will benefit the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival Association Scholarship Fund.
