SEASIDE — The 15th annual Iron Chef Goes Coastal event, sponsored by United Way of Clatsop County, raised more than $90,000 toward 10 local nonprofits.

The culinary competition Nov. 12 at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center saw chef Johana Tovar, of the Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach, take home the top title with a confetti cake mix and starfruit.

Tovar, a 2023 People’s Choice Award winner, shared the stage with 2023 Iron Chef winner John Sowa of the Silver Salmon Grille in Astoria and 2023 People’s Choice winner Jordan Wilson of Astoria’s Surf 2 Soul.

Other winners included The Nest by Dough Dough for Best Dessert and White Cap Catering for Best Table Presentation.

Tovar will return to the main stage for next year’s event, scheduled for Nov. 11, 2025, to face 2024 People’s Choice winners from White Cap Catering and Christian Culinary Academy. For details, see www.clatsopunitedway.org.
