CANNON BEACH — Alisha Hamel, author of the book “When Duty Called: An Oral History of Oregon’s World War II Veterans,” will give a presentation at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum as Veterans Day approaches.

The talk will follow the museum’s annual membership meeting 4 p.m. Friday, which is open to the public. During that event, the museum will reflect on major achievements of the past year.

Hamel’s presentation will focus on a group of personal stories collected from Oregon’s World War II veterans, which recount their experiences in some of the war’s most significant engagements.

With over 20 years of experience in military history, Hamel holds a master’s degree in military history specializing in World War II. She is also the co-author of “Oregon Military History,” an exploration of Oregon’s military heritage.
