Big band swings through Chinook on Saturday

The Dukes of Swing, a group of big-band musicians from the Elks Lodge No. 593 of Aberdeen, Washington.

CHINOOK, Wash. — The Peninsula Association of Performing Artists will host the Dukes of Swing, a band from the Aberdeen, Washington, Elks Lodge, which bills itself as the “oldest big band this side of the Mississippi.”

The annual evening of music and dance to celebrate Americans in uniform will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Columbia Theater, in Chinook, Washington at Fort Columbia State Park.

Admission is by a suggested donation of $20. Proceeds benefit the local flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Hors d’oeuvres and desserts from area restaurants will be available. No Discover Pass is required to park on the grounds of the Washington State Park and attend the theater.
