MANZANITA — How can a sculpture respond to a poem? Or a short story add context to a painting?
Those were the sorts of questions posed to participants of Word & Image, an exhibit that fosters dialogue between writers and artists at the Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita.
This year, the seventh edition of the biennial project paired 12 writers with 12 artists, each a resident of the North Coast who were selected in the summer through a blind submission process.
An exhibit of their works, created in response to one another’s, will open with a release event 7 p.m. Saturday at the center’s gallery.
The exhibit will be open Thursdays through Sundays through Oct. 26. For those who can’t make it to the release event, a livestream will be available via Zoom.
