“Tolovana Sculpture Drifts Into Sea,” a photograph by Cat Brunson, is on display in a new show at Trail’s End.

On the first Saturday of each month, Gearhart holds a downtown art walk between 2 and 5 p.m. Explore the participating locations below to find new exhibits, enjoy refreshments and meet local artists.

Gearhart Artful Home, 3350 U.S. Highway 101

This location will be featuring creations in wood by a trio of local artists: Chuck Fritz, Cindy Bricca and Tom Rooney.

Fritz, who is from Warrenton, crafts vessels using salvaged wood, highlighting the possibilities of working with reclaimed materials.

Bricca, of Gearhart, uses resins, dried flowers and butterflies to create charcuterie boards, trays and other home goods, while Rooney handcrafts cribbage boards, cutting boards and coasters with intricate, inlaid designs.

Meet artists David Savinar and Janelle Baglien at this working artists’ studio located in an old gas station in Gearhart. Watch the artists at work and peruse hundreds of works both large and small.

For this month’s exhibit, Savinar has new work, some framed and ready-to-go from a recent Astoria Visual Arts gallery show. His happy art style depicts people and places.

Baglien will be featuring French impressionist-style paintings on canvas of the dunes and ocean. Her work is textured and lush with tones of soft pastels that capture the magnificence of the Oregon Coast.

Trail’s End Art Association, 656 A St.

This gallery will be opening a show of original paintings and photographs by Cat Brunson with an artist reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The exhibit will be open Fridays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sept. 29.

Originally from North Carolina, Brunson worked at a daily newspaper for 15 years in print advertising and illustration after completing a fine art degree from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

Now, as a creative maker and storyteller, she looks for moments to capture within the inspiring landscapes of the rugged Oregon Coast.

Brunson’s art is an ongoing narrative, always in poetic motion. Her pieces are like laying down boards on a winding path, a journey she must walk alone at first to discover synchronicities.

She gains perspective with photo diaries to focus on composition, light and textures, then studies her notes before translating them into emotional paintings that invoke the feeling of a moment.
