Trail’s End Art Association announces judged show winners

GEARHART — Trail’s End Art Association has announced Astoria mixed media artist Kitty Paino and Gearhart painter Gheri Fouts as winners of the gallery’s 73rd annual judged show, which was held Aug. 3.
Paino won the competition’s Best of Show award for a piece titled “Echoes of Earth and Edifice,” which also took first place in the mixed media category.
Fouts was awarded first place in the watercolor category for her piece “Summer Flowers.” The painting was also selected by Gearhart Mayor Kerry Smith for the Mayor’s Award.
More than 50 artists took part in the show, submitting 89 works across watercolor, oil, mixed media, glass, wood, metal and fiber categories. A total of 21 artists were handed awards at the show, which was judged by artists Barbara Temple-Ayres and Laura Janes.
A collection of pieces made by the winning artists will be displayed at the Trail’s End Art Association gallery through Aug. 31. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays.
Trail’s End was established in 1950 and is among the oldest art associations of its kind along the Oregon Coast. The annual judged show is the gallery’s only annual event open to member and nonmember artists. For more information, visit www.trailsendart.org.
