Portland writer and artist Anthony Hudson has been announced as the winner of this year's North Coast Writer's Residency.

ASTORIA — The Writer’s Guild of Astoria and Astoria Visual Arts have announced Portland author Anthony Hudson as the winner of this year’s North Coast Writer’s Residency.

During the weeklong residency, which is being hosted by the Sou’wester Lodge in Seaview, Hudson will continue working on an in-progress memoir titled “Looking for Tiger Lily.”

The memoir is an adaptation of a solo show by the same name, where he has explored themes of influence and identity as a Native queer artist and writer.

Members of the Writer’s Guild selected Hudson from a pool of 20 applicants, with attention to the perspective of his memoir, which connects modern events with history traced through his coastal Native ancestors.

The residency, now in its sixth year, will conclude with a reading at Astoria Visual Arts in September. To find out more about Hudson’s work, visit www.thecarlarossi.com/writing.
