CANNON BEACH — Two authors will appear this week at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum.

On Thursday, Jerry Sutherland, author of “Bayocean: Atlantis of Oregon,” will close out the museum’s lecture season with a 4 p.m. talk on research surrounding his book about an ill-fated Tillamook County resort town built on a 4-mile sand spit north of Cape Meares.

With over 50 maps, images and diagrams, Sutherland’s book tells the story of Bayocean, its development, its people and how it ultimately washed away into the sea.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, contemporary romance and young adult author Mindy Hardwick, of Cannon Beach, will lead a creative workshop on mining summer memories for writing material.

Participants are invited to bring old photos and memorabilia to explore in crafting short personal narratives to share.

This workshop is pay what you wish. To sign up, RSVP by email at info@cbhistory.org or call 503-436-9301.
