NASELLE, Wash. — The Knappton Cove Heritage Center begins its program season Sunday with “The Genteel Art of Privy Digging,” a 2 p.m. presentation during an open house between 1 and 4 p.m.

The events mark the beginning of the center’s seasonal programming, which also includes a living history encampment July 13 and July 14, a citizenship and constitution day Sept. 17 and events for Veterans Day Nov. 10. Regular museum hours are between 1 and 4 p.m. Saturdays in July and August.

The center is located on the site of the former Columbia River Quarantine Station, once known as the “Ellis Island of the Columbia,” where immigrants and ship crews arrived along the riverbank.
