ASTORIA — Local author Cliff Taylor will lead a writing workshop titled “Poetry With Soul” at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Salty Siren Bookstore, located behind Ashriver Woodworks.

Participants are asked to bring a notebook for the workshop, which will explore the expressive nature of writing poetry.

Taylor is an Astoria writer who is a member of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. He is a poet, speaker and storyteller, and the author of the memoir “The Memory of Souls” and the poetry collection “The Native Who Never Left.”

The cost for the workshop, which is being organized by The Writer’s Guild of Astoria, is $48, or $40 for guild members. Scholarships are available to attend the workshop at a reduced cost. Learn more at www.thewritersguild.org.
