Hoffman Center plans exhibit, classes, demonstrations

MANZANITA — On the schedule at Hoffman Center for the Arts this week are the opening of a new exhibit, an image scanning demonstration, a memoir workshop, a printmaking session and a poetry class.

A gallery show opening Thursday will feature photographs by Melinda Hurst Frye, Brian Padian and Megan Hatch alongside sculptures by Stan Peterson.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Frye will demonstrate the use of a flatbed scanner to make image compositions, which will be followed by a 3 p.m. exhibit reception.
Earlier at 9 a.m. Saturday, a remote memoir writing workshop will be led by Natalie Serber, author of “Shout Her Lovely Name” and “Community Chest.” The workshop is the first of two sessions, with the second to follow in person at 9 a.m. April 20.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan Branham will lead a printmaking studio, looking at trace monotypes (drawing on paper over an inked plate) and stencil monotypes (using stencils on a plate and running it through a printing press).
The first of six sessions on poetry writing, led by author Emily Ransdell, will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with classes to follow every other week through June 19.
