This week’s issue of Coast Weekend reveals the winners of the 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, capturing a moment in time of what readers have chosen as the region’s favored places to dine, stay, take in art and music and explore the coast’s grand sights.

More than 17,000 nominations and 53,000 votes were sent in for this year’s contest. Some categories looked similar, even identical to years past, while others saw new businesses and activities take over the top spots.

From one year to the next, some categories in this annual contest tend to shift slightly. Attentive readers may have noticed some broader, more inclusive titles in this year’s list, like Best World Cuisine and Best Wellness Center.

Last year saw the addition of an arts section, with categories like Best Local Artist and Best Photographer, while this year saw the addition of new categories like Best Family Fun and Best Pet Grooming.

Still, many winners are perennial favorites, like the Columbia River Maritime Museum, Astoria Column, The DEPOT Restaurant and Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa.
