ASTORIA — Author Paula Charles will host a 2:30 p.m. Saturday book launch at Lucy’s Books.

Charles’ latest book, titled “Hammers and Homicide,” is planned as the first in a series from Crooked Lane Books, a New York-based mystery and thriller publisher. The book falls into the cozy mystery genre.

A former Astoria resident now living in southeast Washington state, Charles wrote her first book after being inspired by a workshop at a genealogical library on family storytelling. For more details on the event, visit www.lucys-books.com.
