Karl Marlantes will sign books in Seaside on Wednesday.

SEASIDE — Karl Marlantes, a bestselling author who grew up in Seaside, will sign copies of his newest book “Cold Victory” at a 6 p.m. Wednesday event at Beach Books.

“Cold Victory” is Marlantes’ fourth book, following the Finnish American immigrant saga “Deep River,” which took place in areas of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.

The new book is set in post-World War II Finland, following two couples who navigate political tensions and the challenge of a cross-country ski race.
