Astoria author announced as Oregon Book Award finalist

Alyssa Graybeal is a finalist for the Sarah Winnemucca Award for Creative Nonfiction.

ASTORIA — Local author Alyssa Graybeal has been announced as an Oregon Book Award finalist for her book, “Floppy,” a memoir that explores living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder.

She is a finalist for the Sarah Winnemucca Award for Creative Nonfiction.

“Floppy” was released last year. The book is written from a patient’s perspective, starting with Graybeal’s diagnosis at the age of 10.

Graybeal was born and raised in the Northwest and spent 12 years in Canada before moving to Astoria in 2015.
