Vote for the region's best in the Readers’ Choice Awards.

The Coast Weekend Readers’ Choice Awards return this week, with nominations open online starting Thursday. This annual contest is a chance to suggest the year’s best in regional dining, shopping, arts and recreation.

We want to hear where you found the best clam chowder or seafood market, about your favorite hidden hiking trail, or about a local artist or musician who deserves recognition.

Last year, Readers’ Choice received close to 16,000 nominations and 60,000 votes.

Because of the volume of nominations, we ask that readers take the time to check the spelling of names and businesses before submitting. Nominations of people should include a first and last name, and for categories like “Best Server,” a business name as well.

This year’s contest will include familiar categories from years past as well as a handful of new additions, like “Best Family Fun,” “Best Pet Grooming” and “Best Wellness Center.”

Nominations will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 8. Readers can suggest one person or business in each category per week. After nominations close, voting will begin on Feb. 9. Look for this year’s contest winners in March.
