ASTORIA — Submissions are now open for Issue 54 of Rain Magazine, the annual literary arts publication of Clatsop Community College.

Nonfiction and fiction writing, poetry, photography and art are invited from the general public as well as from students at the college and in high school.

This year’s magazine theme is “food,” including relationships with food, meals with loved ones, gathering over food, reconnection, cooking, dining out, cultivating and growing food, cultural identities, memories and travel. General submissions outside of the theme will also be considered.

A maximum of three submissions per person will be accepted through Jan. 15, 2024. Prose pieces should be less than 5,000 words in length. Due to the limited ability to print in color, artists submitting color images should indicate if the image may appear in black and white.

Work should be labeled by genre, such as poetry or nonfiction, on the manuscript. Include a name, address, phone number, email, title of the work(s), medium and an artist or author biography (maximum 200 words).

Submit by email, including the subject line “2024 submission” and a full name to rainmagazine@clatsopcc.edu. Submissions may also be mailed to the college, though email is preferred.
