Hideki Yamaya plays on the lute and cittern at a concert this week.

ASTORIA — Hideki Yamaya, a performer of lutes, early guitars and early mandolins, will play at Peace Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. Friday.

The show will include pieces of music from Elizabethan England, played on the lute, a stringed instrument with a deep, rounded back, and a cittern, a Renaissance-era stringed instrument.
