Wild Coast Film Festival spotlights conservation

- The Wildlife Center of the North Coast introduces a new film festival at the Columbian Theater this week.
ASTORIA — Twenty-seven films focused on conservation and wildlife will be shown as part of the new Wild Coast Film Festival, organized by the Wildlife Center of the North Coast in partnership with Neon Raven Story Labs.

Showings at the Columbian Theater will be organized in four two-hour blocks beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
The lineup includes seven films by local or regional filmmakers and is made up of 26 shorts and one feature-length production.
Documentary topics at the festival include cormorants, gorillas, diving with rays, kelp forests, a toad musical and hellbender salamanders.
