Nature Matters talk to focus on snorkel surveys

ASTORIA — Staff members of the North Coast Watershed Association will present on snorkel surveys of local streams during a 7 p.m. Thursday talk at Fort George Brewery.

Graham Klag, executive director of the North Coast Watershed Association, and Kelli Daffron, the association’s project manager, will discuss the impact of these surveys on mapping salmon and trout habitat and on ecological restoration.

Klag helped to design the project’s survey application, used for electronic data collection, while Daffron helped to conduct snorkel surveys. Both have a background in working on restoration projects throughout the region.

This free event is part of the Nature Matters speaker series, a partnership between Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, the North Coast Watershed Association, the Lewis and Clark National Park Association and the brewery. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/lewi.
