Fundraising gala returns to Liberty Theatre this week

ASTORIA — The Liberty Gala, an annual fundraising event, will return to the Liberty Theatre at 5 p.m. Saturday in support of Kids Make Theatre, a new children’s program that launched in April.

The gala will include a catered reception by chef Chris Holen, of Nekst Event in Astoria, and a live auction.

Kids Make Theatre is the Liberty Theatre’s newest program, offering after-school activities, weekend classes and camps for students to learn about theater performance, stage management, sound engineering and lighting. An accessible, kid-sized black box theater is planned as part of the program’s future.

Tickets for The Liberty Gala are $150, attendance is limited to 150. The event’s dress code is listed as coastal formal. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.libertyastoria.org.
