SEASIDE — Mystery author Emmeline Duncan will discuss her “Ground Rules” series and read from the collection’s leading volume at Beach Books at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17.

Duncan’s writing falls into the genre of “cozy mysteries,” a milder subsection of crime fiction in which violence occurs off the page. The book series revolves around a coffee cart in Portland. The series’ fourth volume is set for release in spring 2024.
