CHINOOK, Wash. — The Peninsula Association of Performing Artists will host “Carols, Cookies and Cocoa at the Fort” from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fort Columbia State Park.

The event is the association’s latest fundraising venture for its upcoming production of “Steel Magnolias,” which will be performed at the Fort Columbia Theater March 17 to April 2, 2023. The play, set in a beauty parlor in Louisiana, tells the story of the friendship of six women.

Its president, Angele Grote, and supporters are busy raising funds to stage the production.

The afternoon will feature music and skits presented by local musicians and actors. There will be raffle baskets and a silent auction.

The audience will be invited to join cast members in carol singing. Grote is hoping that local dancers will perform, too. “This was the event we did to come back from covid last year and it was greatly received by all,” she said. “We are really excited to do it again.“
