Seth Howard has been performing magic for over 30 years. Using mixed media formats, Howard combines aesthetics of magic with a modern approach. Just like each magic trick is constructed in layers, each of Howard’s pieces use multiple layers to convey depth.

Showing a selection of gifts, including new pieces in clay by artist Sonja Korpela and other artisan goods from Astoria and around the Northwest.
Gallery on Pier 39, 100 39th St.
“In the Heart of Winter Blooms an Endless Summer,” a site-specific video installation by Isabel Dunn, will be located in the Pier 39 east alcove, facing the Columbia River.
Gathered Bakeshop & Market, 1512 12th St.
Artist Katie George will show nature-inspired art in a variety of mediums, including wood burnings, prints and stickers alongside Taylor Paige, a local ceramicist who will be showing hand-thrown functional pottery.
Imogen Gallery, 240 11th St.
Hosting the annual “Hook, Pulp and Weave,” a rich and diverse invitational exhibition exploring fiber as art. Functional and nonfunctional work will be included in this exhibition of textile-based arts.
Included to the array are crochet paintings by Jo Hamilton, vegan taxidermy by Marjorie Taylor, wall-hung fiber drawings by Kim Lakin, nuno-felted scarves and wraps by Julie Kern Smith, indigo pieces by Iris Sullivan Daire, wool small sculpture by Patti Breidenbach, abstract fiber art of Susan Circone, beaded jewelry by Celeste Olivares, figurative sculpture by Amelia Santiago, paper assemblages and shadow puppets by Kathy Karbo and whimsical mushroom sculptures by Kim Tepe. This exhibition will remain on view through Jan. 9, 2023.

Paul Polson Studio Gallery, 100 10th St.
Showing new and old oil paintings, mostly large landscapes and figurative works, and an Earth series. Also continuing to show the Strata and Pipe series.
RiverSea Gallery, 1160 Commercial St.
Celebrating 25 years with new paintings by Noel Thomas and Robert Paulmenn. Thomas, a watercolorist, has been a prominent presence at RiverSea since its opening in 1997 and Paulmenn has exhibited his oil paintings at the gallery since moving to Astoria a decade ago.
The two artists have bonded over the years, both entranced by light and landscape in this magical place, and the sheer pleasure of drawing and painting, especially en plein air.
This show encompasses ships on the Columbia River, sweeping vistas, favorite haunts, domestic still-life and other North Coast scenes. The gallery will host a champagne reception from 5 to 8 p.m., and visitors are invited to meet the artists and enjoy elegant guitar instrumentals by Wes Wahrmund.

Featuring a watercolor of a multi-colored Monstera leaf, “Tropical Evening” by Yvonne Edwards, Rhonda Gewin’s found object sculpture “A Fly in the Room” and Patti Beidenbach’s whimsical octopus “By the Sea.”

Weird Sisters Freak Boutique, 1004 Marine Drive
Hear Barbara Anne, local folk singer, sing holiday and folk songs in the boutique wonderland with fantasy and sci-fi artist William Michael Brown, who will be live-painting abstract winter nebulae. Julia Hesse from Living Tarot Oracle will be on-site in the portal.
