ASTORIA – Historian Jack Miller will lead two presentations focused on Astoria in the 1920s, including racist organizations and the Great Astoria Fire of 1922, in the Flag Room of the Astoria Library.
At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Miller will read from his book “Invisible Empire,” a work of historical fiction which explores local conflicts resulting from the arrival of the Ku Klux Klan in Astoria. At noon on Saturday, Miller will continue the discussion with a historic presentation on events of the 1920s, including the Great Astoria Fire, which resulted in a sharp decline of Klan membership.
These events are free and open to the public. Question-and-answer periods will follow each presentation. For more information, visit www.astorialibrary.org.
