KALA hosts author talk

ASTORIA — KALA will present a First Person: Authors Talk featuring author Melissa Eskue Ousley Friday night at 8 p.m.

The presentation is part of KALA’s monthly interview show featuring conversation about all things writerly. Host Heather Hirschi will interview Eskue Ousley live on the KALA stage, with questions from the audience and a few surprises.

Eskue Ousley’s sixth novel, “A Constellation of Scars,” is a finalist in the 2021 International Book Awards. Her suspense novel, “Pitcher Plant” won a 2018 Independent Publisher Book Award. Her young adult novel, “Sunset Empire,” debuted in a best-selling boxed set.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at brownpapertickets.com. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result is required. Limited capacity will be maintained to allow for social distancing. KALA is located at 1017 Marine Dr. in Astoria.
