Bestselling author will give virtual talk in Cannon Beach Saturday

CANNON BEACH — The Cannon Beach Library will host “Fiction becomes Truth,” a virtual presentation by author Karen Thompson Walker Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

A New York Times bestselling author of two novels, Thompson Walker is known for her genre-bending stories that are part dystopian fiction, part science fiction and part psychological thriller. Her works have been hailed as thought-provoking, haunting and provocative.

Thompson Walker’s 2019 novel, “The Dreamers,” describes a college town caught in the grip of an illness that causes people to fall asleep and, possibly, never wake up. A quarantine is established, stores run out of supplies and the National Guard is called to assist.
