Voting is open for the Readers’ Choice Awards.

Voting for the contest will remain open until Feb. 28. Vote online at coastweekend.com under the “Readers’ Choice” tab, or at eopubco.secondstreetapp.com/2020-Readers-Choice-Awards/. Results will be announced in the March 18 edition of Coast Weekend. And because of the unprecedented events impacting the North Coast over the last year, the results page may look a little different this year.

Nominations for the annual contest closed Wednesday evening. During a three-week nomination period, residents from Raymond, Washington, down to Rockaway Beach, and just about everywhere in between, participated.

Nominations were limited to one per person this year, unlike previous years — the change helped make it so the results aren’t chosen based on many votes from a few people. The official tallies have yet to be counted, but it’s safe to say that the contest received hundreds of voters, who collectively shared thousands of nominations.

During the nomination period, people sent in their favorite picks for dining, businesses and activities along the coast. Many nominations went toward well-known establishments like Fort George Brewery and Nisa’s Thai Kitchen.

Some newcomers have been added to the contest’s ballot though, including Cambium Gallery and other new businesses.

It’s too soon to tell who, where and what will be awarded with this year’s honors. However, it’s clear that the North Coast’s spirit and support for local establishments remains strong.

To all of those nominated this year, good luck. And to everyone who has sent in nominations, thank you for your participation.
